Sad 38:41
And remember Our servant Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment."
The Qur’an doesn’t say much about Ayyub, because Allah has no need for the book of Ayyub to be repeated again in the Qur’an. The story has always been available to be read or heard by faithful servants of Allah. The Qur’an does affirm, though, the important fact which we studied before - that Ayyub ultimately understood where his terrible suffering came from – from Shaytan.
Sad 38:43,44
And We gave him his family, and along with them the like thereof, as a Mercy from Us, and a Reminder for those of understanding. And take in your hand a bunch and strike with it. And (do) not break (your) oath. Truly! We found him patient. How excellent (a) slave! Verily, he was ever oft-returning in repentance!
These ayahs give us an affirmation that the tragedy that struck Ayyub’s family was also eventually healed. Interpreters believe that ayah 44 talks about a resolution to the marital struggle which accompanied and further aggravated the whole tragedy. Where, in the Qur’an, Allah instructs the liberated victim to strike with a bunch, interpreters add that he was to strike his wife with a bunch of grass. This is quite possible, if the oath mentioned in that context means Ayybs marital oath. This is a happy ending. Sura Șād further confirms what we read in the book of Ayyub. Allah gave the prophet and his wife children for all the ones which Sheytan had mercilessly caused to die.
Ayyub was not a faultless man. Ayah 44 gives a wonderful report from the mouth of Allah regarding his patience and excellency, yet it also says that he never he never stopped “turning”, which is an expression used in all Scriptures, which means repenting and changing direction (to the Straight Path). Only a person who never makes any mistakes has nothing to repent of.
Let us follow this truly exemplary man of Allah in his patience when things aren’t as we would want them to be. Let us, also like him, turn to Allah, do tawbah (repent) of our shortcomings, heal relationships with our loved ones, and strive to stay on the Straight path. As with nabi Ayyub, the Heavens are watching us also.
Sheytan hates the faithful and repentant. Allah loves them. He is aware of your suffering, and if you are faithful to Him, He will surely restore you – now, or later in this life, or when He raises you and forever wipes away your tears.
Injil, Revelation 21:3.4
I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: "The dwelling of Allah has become with people, and he will camp among them. They will be his umma and he will remain with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no death, sadness, mourning, or pain. The first matters have gone."
If I suffer and cry here on earth…
a) it shows that I deserve punishment and will suffer even more in the afterlife
b) it shows that Allah is far away and not concerned with my life
c) I have a promise that Allah will take me to Jannah and wipe away my tears
